The Southern Miss Golden Eagle basketball team is looking to put last year's disappointing season behind it. Coming off the heels off a lengthy NCAA investigation and self-imposed postseason ban, USM hopes to improve on its horrid 9-20 record. Senior Norville Carey is the only returning starter and should finally be the focal point of the USM offense as well as the team leader.
Southern Miss junior goalkeeper Brittany Taylor set the school record for career saves in a 2-1 double overtime victory over UTSA. Taylor had 4 saves in the contest and credits her teammates for helping her fit in on and off the field.
